TERA Online switching to Free-to-Play at the beginning of January

Recently, NHN (the publisher for TERA in Korea) has officially announced that TERA Online (Korean version) will be switching to the free-to-play business model, starting on January 10, 2013.

This is a good news for those who love the non-target Action-RPG since TERA Online is considered one of the best MMO currently in this category.

TERA Online

Currently, TERA Online is one of the most expensive MMO game developed in Korean history as the game production costs up to 50 billion won (nearly a million in USD). The game was launched in South Korea in January 2011, but it failed to beat the rival Blade & Soul (developed by NCsoft).

The main reason is because it follows the subscription-based when more online games are adapting to the free-to-play model. Therefore, NHN has decided to change its business model with the hope to bring in more players…

TERA Online was developed using the popular Unreal Engine 3, so the graphics is great. If your PC meets the recommended system requirements, this is an online game not to be missed.
