As consumers are increasingly attracted to the large screen sizes (5 inches or more), Full HD display is becoming the norm of high-end smartphones in 2013.
Here is a list of high-end products with high resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) that will be available early in 2013.
HTC was one of the first to introduce HD smartphone to the market and HTC Butterfly is without a doubt, has the most impressive display we’ve ever seen on a smartphone. The screen boasts an incredible pixel density of 440ppi, which is higher than the iPhone 5 Retina display (326ppi).
The HTC Butterfly carries a 2.1 megapixels front-facing camera and 8 megapixels camera on its back. The device is powered by Qualcomm quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait and Adreno 320 GPU. It comes with 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB storage, and can be expanded with a microSD slot. The default operating system installed is Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Sony Xperia Z
The Xperia Z is Sony’s first full HD display smartphone with Bravia Engine 2 video processor. Hardware design is one of the Xperia Z’s strongest features. In fact, this is the most powerful smartphone ever made by the company. It packs a quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.5GHz, 2GB of RAM, and a 13.1-megapixel camera.
The device is 7.9 mm thin. It’s certified water and dust resistant. In addition, the 13-megapixel camera is also upgraded with an Exmor RS sensor, built-in HDR recording, and a fast shutter speed of 10 frames per second.
According to Amazon UK, the Xperia Z will be released on 1 March, 2013 for £549.99.
Sony Xperia ZL
The Xperia ZL is considered to be a copy of the Xperia Z with 5-inch full HD screen. The ZL has little difference in style compared to the Z when the back is made of plastic instead of glass and it’s a bit thicker.
LG Optimus G Pro
LG Optimus Pro G also uses a 5-inch full HD display, the same size as HTC Butterfly or Sony Xperia Z, ZL. It is powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon Pro chip, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, offers 2 GB fo RAM, 32 GB of storage with an expandable memory card slot. The G Pro’s camera has a resolution of 13 megapixels and supports LTE. The 3,000 mAh battery supports fast charging but is not removable.
Unless you live in Japan, though, there’s no guarantee you’ll see the Optimus G Pro. According to the Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo, the phone is expected to launch in early April.
Huawei Ascend D2
Ascend D2 is the dual-SIM smartphone with a 5-inch Full HD screen, pixel density of 443 pixels per inch. The product will compete directly with the large screen models like Samsung Galaxy Note II, Optimus Vu and Pantech Vega R3.
This model packs a 1.4GHz dual-core CPU, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and comes with a 3,100 mAh battery. The Ascend D2 is available on China Mobile for $642.
ZTE Grand S
The Grand S is one of the slimmest 5-inch smartphone in the world today with a body thickness of only 6.9 mm. It is also equipped with a 5-inch full HD screen like previous mentioned models. Having a high pixel density of 441 ppi is the advantages of this product.
The device runs Android 4.1 with quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro clocked at 1.7 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and can be expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card, fully integrated Dolby Digital, 13 megapixel rear camera and 2 megapixel front camera.
Oppo Find 5
Oppo Find 5 has a 440 ppi pixel density display. The product is equipped with quad-core processor Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro 1.5 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, built-in 16 GB of storage. The smartphone also owns 13-megapixel camera with an Exmor RS like on the Z and ZL of Sony and integrated Dirac HD Sound technology. There’s also NFC, DLNA supports with 2500 mAh battery. The Oppo Find 5 runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Unlike other manufacturers, Lenovo’s smartphone uses Intel dual-core processor Atom Z2580. This chip supports Hyper-Threading technology and clocked at 2 GHz. The phone boats a 5.5 icnh Full HD screen with a pixel density of 400 ppi and 13MP camera. It comes with 2 GB of RAM. Storage is still unknown but may be expanded up to 32 GB via a MicroSD slot. K900 runs the Android 4.2 operating system.
